Adam Proteau: All-Star weekend a celebration of Nashville's growth as a hockey town The Nashville Predators have been around since 1998, but some small-minded hockey fans still think the game doesn't belong there. That's nonsense that ignores how far the market has come – and the truth about how long it takes to cultivate a new sporting culture in a non-traditional city.

I have more fun with the whole Nashville game and music experience than anywhere else in the league. Great time.

Probably wont watch the game. But will say I think Nashville given its location has done a splendid job at growing hockey in your not typical hockey market. They have really built the game in that city, which is not known as a hockey town.

Very impressive.

Thanks Adam,

From a 47 year old Hockey fan that played here in town since I was 10 - When there was only one sheet of ice - Municipal Auditoridump - and My Hockey team was sponsored by then-famous country music star Barbara Mandrell - she named us after her band (the Do-Rites) and I still have her signature on my helmet from back then.

I loved going to The South Stars, the Knights, the Nighthawks and Ice Flyers games (I was a little too young for the Dixie Flyers) Now I get to wear a predators Jersey with pride in one of the busiest arenas in the world and the home of my team.

Seeing the All-Star Game in my city, with players on a team I have been following since the expansion draft, is something special.

Thanks for your perspective and recognition of how the game needs to grow and bring more people in over the exclusive attitude many carry about our game.
